В некоторых случаях во время операции по поводу одностороннего крипторхизма обнаруживается семявыносящий проток, но яичко отсутствует. Высказывается предположение, что в подобной ситуации яичко может быть атрофировано в результате перенесенного в прошлом перекрута, а потому рекомендуется фиксировать контралатеральное яичко, чтобы предотвратить перекрут единственного яичка*
