Als Fermentationsmedium wird meistens Melasse verwendet und CoCl2 sowie 5,6-DimethylbenzimidazoI zugesetzt. Zur Isolierung aus den Fermentationsbriihen bedient man sich diverser Adsorptions- und Extraktionsmethoden.
