A BLUE CHINESE VASE
On Sunday Lucy and her boy-friend Dan went to the party in the country. It was a birthday party, because on that day Lucy's cousin had her birthday. First of all Lucy and Dan decided to get a good birthday present They took a car and went to a shopping center. Lucy wanted to present to the cousin a perfume for her dog «Oh my dog» or a new Webster's dictionary of the English language, but then she decided to present to her a blue Chinese vase with white birds and red flowers.
Lucy and Dan found a nice glass shop with a lot of beautiful things: beer and wine glasses, tea and coffee cups, plates of different shapes, big and small spoons, forks and knives, and, of course, with a lot of expensive vases. Lucy and Dan asked a shop-assistant to show them Chinese vases, and he brought four vases from the back room. A blue vase with birds and flowers cost much, but Lucy decided to take it, for It was realty nice. So they paid for the vase and the shop-assistant made a beautiful package.
At naif past four Lucy and Dan got to the railway station. They bought tickets at the booking-office and took a train. They were afraid to break the vase, so they put it carefully on the next seat. At a quarter to five the train started, and Lucy decided to tell Dan a funny story about her colleagues, but at that moment they heard voices:
«Lucy, what are you doing here?» Those were Max and Alex. Max had a large heavy bag in his hand.
«I am going to my cousin's birthday party. She is 21 years old today,» said Lucy.
«We are going to a birthday party too. Here are a tot of bottles,* said Max and showed his heavy bag.
«These are my colleagues from the office,* said Lucy to Dan.
«My name is Alex,» said Alex.
«My name is Max,» said Max.
«My name is Dan,» said Dan. «Glad to meet you.»
«Okay,» said Max. «I am ...,» and with these words he put his bag on a seat.
«Oh, be careful! It's a vase there!» cried Lucy. But it was too late. They heard a crack...
When Lucy opened a package, she saw three beautiful pieces: one with birds, one with flowers and one with blue water.
